WHO WE ARE

Expanding access. Building skills. Creating possibility.

AFRISTEMI (Africa Rural Internet and STEM Initiative) is a youth-led nonprofit organisation in Ghana working to bridge the digital divide through practical STEM education, digital literacy, Internet connectivity and community-centred technology.

Technology is more powerful when everyone can take part.

AFRISTEMI was incorporated in Ghana on 2 August 2024, building on community-focused work to make technology learning and connectivity more accessible to people in rural and underserved areas.

We work with schools, communities, volunteers and partners to create practical learning opportunities—from coding, robotics and electronics to networking, digital safety and community-led connectivity. Our approach is hands-on: people learn by experimenting, solving problems and making things together.

Our goal is not only to help people use technology, but also to grow the confidence and local capacity to shape it.

OUR VISION

Equal access to opportunity.

A Ghana where rural and underserved communities have equal access to technology and STEM education.

OUR MISSION

Technology that empowers.

To bridge the digital divide through accessible STEM education, digital literacy and Internet connectivity.

Meet our team.

AFRISTEMI is powered by people bringing together leadership, governance, partnership-building and community engagement.

Open Builders Space

Open Builders Space (OBS) is AFRISTEMI's community of learners, makers and builders in Odomase, Sunyani West. It brings people together to explore electronics, programming, open-source technology, networking, robotics, cybersecurity and digital fabrication.

More than a workspace, OBS is a place to exchange skills, experiment with ideas and work together on practical projects. Everyone with curiosity and a willingness to learn has a place in the community.
